Butch Harkins
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Butch" Harkins on May 1, 2023. Born on June 23, 1948, in Iowa City. Butch lived a fulfilled life surrounded by a loving family and friends. A devoted father, brother, and son, those who knew him well will remember his undying passion for the Chicago Cubs, fishing, and spending time with his family. He claimed to despise dogs, cats, and kids but we all knew the truth.
Butch is survived by his daughters Melissa Karsten, Stephanie (Michael) Wink, Elizabeth (Michael) Harkins, Jennifer (Ronald) Reid, Angela (James) Shoff, Dawn (Trent) Sander and Rebecca (Daniel) Ries, and his son, Robert Harry (Kaysea) Harkins. As well as 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters Patricia Hamma, Sandy (Phil) Schott and Cindy (Kevin) Henning along with many nieces and nephews. Butch was predeceased by his father, Robert M. Harkins, his mother, Delores Harkins, his stepmother, Marjorie Harkins, partner in crime, Cheryl "Grams" Roelf, and his grandson, Gable Wink.
A Celebration of Life for Butch will be held on June 24, 2023, at 12:00 PM in Massillon at his farm, where family and friends can come together to share memories and pay their respects by having an ice-cold beer. As a fervent Chicago Cubs fan, Butch would have appreciated everyone wearing their Cubs gear or team colors to the gathering.
In remembrance of Butch, let us honor his memory by cherishing the time we shared with him and supporting one another during this time of loss. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. |
