Class of '68 Quarterly E-Newsletter

July 2004 Article

I've received many positive and encouraging emails about our website, and especially about the professional way the site is designed. One classmate commented:

"I was amazed by the class website and want to thank you for all your efforts. It has been such fun to browse through the years via the site. So, how do you finance all this? I'd be happy to contribute - just let me know how!

Another classmate asked:

"Do we have a "fund" for the class - i.e., funds toward the next class reunion, costs associated with what you and Mick do, etc.??"

Being totally uninformed about cyberspace (you mean this might cost MONEY??) I went to the source: Mick Orton, Our Website Guru. His answer: "The only things that cost money are the domain name registration ($150 for 5 years) and the website hosting $35 setup and $19.95 a month. It was my idea, so it is my contribution to the class. But if something ever happens to me, remember to pay the bills!"

Elizabeth Goodman Hallowell is whittling down the number of classmates on our list of "unable to locate". There are only about 20 names left -- and she has 'clues' on all of those! We have funded her research costs for those sites, which are "pay-per-use", and for associated photocopying of library-related records. She has just recently sent me information on 5 classmates; I'll be writing them asking for their information.

Even though Mick doesn't want to be reimbursed for the website, we will always accept funds for the next reunion's activities, mailings, research costs, etc. If you are so inclined, you can make a check payable to 'WHS CLASS OF 68" and mail it to Donna Morgan (4052 Lamphere Court; Davenport, IA 52806).

This time last year Debi Williams Oertle and I were in the final throes of the 35th-year Reunion Plans. Doesn't seem like it's been almost a year since we were together, does it?
I'd be pleased to chair the next reunion. Most of the planning communication took place via email and "free" cell-phone minutes - two very cost-effective methods to stay in touch.
Would YOU like to be on the committee for our 40th Year reunion? What would YOU like our next reunion to include? River Cruise? Golf Outing?

Please write me with your ideas and suggestions. It's really not too early to think about 2008!

Linda
