Classmate Terrence Finch

DAVENPORT — Terrence S. "Terry" Finch, 63, of Davenport died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Timothy’s House of Hope, Davenport.

Terrence Scott Finch was born Oct. 30, 1950, in Selma, Iowa, to Henry Arthur and Mildred Anna Stock Finch. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1968 and from University of Iowa in 1972, with a degree in business administration. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was an accountant with Illinois Department of Employment Security for 33 years, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed music, playing his guitar, golf and chess.

Terry is survived by a daughter, Adrianne Somes, Taylor Ridge, Ill.; several cousins, including Ron Stock, and his wife, Gloria; their daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Wally Woods, and Charlene and Al Mosher; and their families, all of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Debbie; and his brother, Dennis.

DAVENPORT — Ruth E. Gray, 95, of Davenport, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, in Davenport. Following cremation, a memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Private inurnment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Davenport First Baptist Church. Ruth was born in 1919 at Moses Lake, Wash. She was united in marriage in 1945 to Gerald D. Gray. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Tom) Beardsley, Tom Gray, and Tim (Connie) Gray; grandchildren, Tracy, Jennifer, Chad, Sean, Monica (Cory) Capper, Melanie (Nathan) Stuhr, and Mark and Mackenzie; great-grandchildren, Devon, Emilly, Eleanor and Frederick; and a brother and a sister. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.

DAVENPORT — Violet Kirschenman, 85, of Davenport died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at her home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.

Mrs. Kirschenman was born in 1928 to Martin and Mary Stearns in Baron County, Wis. She married Delbert Kirschenman on June 10, 1949, in Luverne, Minn. He died Jan. 3, 2006. She worked as a CNA for Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport, and as a homemaker for in-home care, totaling 10 years. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and doing computer work.

Survivors include her daughters, Ardis Jennett, Nola Lopez, Donna (Steve) Goyette, Rita (Bruce) Clifton, and DeeAnn (Gene) Dibbern; sons, Les (Tammie) Kirschenman and Larry Kirschenman; 29 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Stearns; and brother, Lyle (Ruth) Stearns. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son Ken; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Hunt.

Classmate Larry Hudgens's mother, Marjorie Hudgens

DAVENPORT — Funeral services for Marjorie E. Hudgens, 91, of Davenport will be 11 a.m.  Monday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park. Family will greet friends 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Marjorie passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Silvercrest at Garner Farms, Davenport.

Cunnick-Collins Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marjorie Eleanor Lemon was born June 13, 1922, in Swedesburg, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Ada (Becker) Lemon. She married Robert F. Hudgens on Sept. 18, 1949, in New London, Iowa. They were happily married for 64 years.

Marjorie was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Davenport, where she was active in Sunday school, choir, Presbyterian Women’s group, and played the organ and piano when called upon. She also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include her husband; son; Larry (Jenny) Hudgens of Iowa City, daughter, Susan Pieper of Dublin, Ohio; son, Robert Hudgens III of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Lindsey Hudgens; and two sisters, Ruth Margaret Totemeier and Elizabeth Hookom.

Memorials may be given to the donor’s charity of choice.

Classmate Linda Frank Cordell

ELKO, NV — Linda Frank Corell, 64, of Elko NV, passed away into the hands of The Lord on March 30, 2014.

Linda Cordell was born in Davenport on Dec. 23, 1949, to her parents, George (Bud) and Lorene (Squire) Frank. Linda graduated from Davenport West High School in 1968. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Phyllis Brown.

Classmate Nancy Resnberger Cripe

Cromwell, IN —Nancy J. Cripe of Cromwell, IN died Sunday, August 17, 2014 surrounded by family and friends at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Her strong faith, enduring strength and good sense of humor as she battled cancer was an inspiration to all those who knew her. She was born August 9, 1950 in Davenport, Iowa to the late Don and Jeane (Glaspell) Rensberger. She worked at Campbell Fetter Bank for 28 years as well as the Ligonier Library for 25 years. Nancy is survived by her two sons, David Cripe and his wife Amanda with beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Caden and Lauren of Nashville, TN; Shawn Cripe of Columbia City, IN; and best friends Pat Voors, Fran Lortie and Esther Terry all of Noble County. A visitation will be Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 11-1 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. A Celebration of Life will be at 1 PM at the funeral home with burial following in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier, Indiana. Memorials can be made to the Noble County Community Foundation, 1599 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767.
