Class of '68 Quarterly E-Newsletter April 2005 Article Hello Classmates!
Below is the response I sent to the Reunion Committee Chairperson of the Class of 69. It reflects the comments made by our classmates who responded to the January 05 email newsletter article regarding a combined reunion with the Classes of 69 and 70. There were not a huge number of votes, but I do thank the people who took the time to email me their thoughts.
As I promised, I offered the idea of a combined Reunion of the Classes of 68, 69 and 70 to our '68 classmates in my January '05 email Newsletter article. Most of the responses came from classmates who lived out of town/state; very few classmates who still lived in the Davenport area voted. 2/3 of the responding classmates voted for continuing with our own Class Reunion. The common thought by these classmates was there wasn't enough time to talk with our classmates who did attend our events in 2003. Many felt that we had just started to connect again. Another comment was that the classmate(s) didn't know or didn't feel close to anyone in the classes of '69 and '70. 1/6 voted for the combination. Those people had siblings in your classes, and/or were in the Davenport area and wanted to stay in touch with others. Some had attended reunions of their brother(s) or sister(s) and had a good time, commenting it was a way to see their siblings again. 1/6 voted for a different combination of years OR said they didn't care. Some thought we should have the reunion with the classes before us (66 and 67) since they knew more of those folks. Going by the turnout of the vote, our classmates have voiced their desire for our own class reunion in 2008, not a combined reunion with the classes of '69 and '70 in 2009.
If there are those from your class who would like to attend the Class of '68's reunion in 2008, I know they will be welcome. And I hope those who would like to attend either of the 69 or 70 reunion will be welcomed. When the time comes for our respective reunions, perhaps we can share dates, information, etc. with our classmates, giving them the option of attending the other's events. Good luck, and I'm sure we'll be in contact again. Linda Hein Faust, Class of '68
I would like to thank those who offered their help for our 40th-year reunion in 2008. Plans and preparation work will begin in earnest next summer.
Keeping up with addresses is the biggest challenge of any reunion committee, and ours is no exception. Not only do we move, but our email addresses change, too. The seemingly constant buy-outs and mergers of Internet email entities are on-going; therefore, the tail end of our email addresses change, too.
Some of the responses received suggested activities for our next reunion: more time than just two days, set aside a time to just gab, golfing What do YOU want to see happen in 2008?
